Hydrogen 101- This panel focuses on current hydrogen deployment, gives an overview of current and projected hydrogen demand, scarcity of hydrogen fuels, sectors where hydrogen will be needed to reduce emissions, and the challenges of transporting hydrogen and meeting the projected volumes.



Moderator: Magnolia Tovar | Director, Zero-Carbon Fuels | Clean Air Task Force
Magnolia Tovar is CATF’s Global Director of Zero-Carbon Fuels. Magnolia promotes policy in the EU and member states to expand the role of zero-carbon fuels in heavy transportation and decarbonizing heavy industry as well as other sectors. Prior to CATF, Magnolia worked for KBR Advisory Consultant where she worked in energy transition projects which included decarbonization activities and zero-carbon fuels adoption in the industrial, power and transportation sector. While at KBR, she assessed the imports and adoption of hydrogen to significantly reduce carbon emissions for an Asian client. She also studied the development of a blue hydrogen supply chain in Asia. Magnolia is a chemical engineer with two decades of experience in the oil and gas industry in more than 20 countries. She started her career in Valero Energy and Technip in Aruba, the U.S., and Italy.
Gus Wakim | Production & Export Manager, Zero-Carbon Fuels | Clean Air Task Force
Gus Wakim works with the Zero-Carbon Fuels team at Clean Air Task Force, assessing the technical and commercial feasibility for the development of low-carbon hydrogen projects in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Gus focuses on developing a comprehensive framework to decarbonize the region’s energy industry and ensures the involvement of key stakeholders. Gus also provides insights for CATF’s policy team on financing and infrastructure requirements for low-carbon energy exports to the EU and Asia-Pacific (APAC). Prior to joining CATF, Gus worked on due diligence studies, market analyses, strategy development and complex technical studies in the energy and chemicals sector for government entities and multinationals across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and APAC regions.

Bianca Wien Prado is an environmental lawyer with 20 years experience on climate and energy topics currently working on the Green Deal and on the Fit for 55 package. Bianca is Head of EU Regulatory Affairs at thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG and Chairwoman of the Energy Committee of the European Steel Association – Eurofer.
Klaus Schimmer | Chief Innovation Architect Sustainability | SAP
Klaus Schimmer is Chief Innovation Architect at SAP. He started his career in large advertising agencies as Creative Director. At SAP, he held various roles in the areas of Security, Partner Management, Government Relations, Machine Learning, Future of Work, and Startup Programmes. In his current role, he develops innovations in the field of sustainability with a focus on Sustainable Finance and Green Hydrogen.
